Position Title: Biorepository Supervisor

We are looking for a dedicated, experienced professional to lead day-to-day operations for our bio-repository facility in Redwood City, California.

At Precision for Medicine, we develop assays and run global logistics using biomarkers to stratify patients, incomparably improving client's R&D efficiency and success. We handle every aspect of clinical trials from sites to biomarkers to diagnostics.

Play a meaningful role in helping patients gain access to the treatment they need. Clinical trials depend on biological specimen samples being deposited and withdrawn on a continual basis. Our Biorepository facility currently houses over 25 million specimens. The Biorepository Supervisor will facilitate the processing of biological samples accurately and on time for the purposes of supporting clinical and basic scientific research activities.

Essential functions of the job include but are not limited to:

  • Understand the process for sample accessioning and implementation of revised processes to improve accuracy and efficiency of the biorepository process
  • Train, as necessary, all laboratory personnel on all relevant procedures and protocols
  • Perform PBMC isolations using a variety of methods and oversee competency assessments of laboratory personnel responsible for sample processing
  • Act as a resource to and advise key colleagues on fresh processing in keeping with documented procedures, safety protocols and/or company policies
  • Assist with organizing and planning laboratory activities
  • Coordinate and interact with couriers to assess timing of shipment arrival as appropriate
  • Coordinate ordering lab supplies and maintain appropriate inventory levels
  • Assist, as requested, with development of new methods and protocols
  • Effectively communicate all problems, concerns, incidents to the Manager
  • Investigate and resolve data discrepancies in conjunction with project collaborators
  • Prepare and analyze reports from LIMs to identify possible errors in data
  • Carry out other duties/projects as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience or
  • Master Degree with 2 years of relevant experience

Other Required:

  • Isolating PBMCs from whole blood or leucopheresis
  • Ability to work independently and make decisions with minimal supervision and guidance
  • Must possess basic laboratory skills and be trained in aseptic technique
  • Requires excellent attention to detail, excellent documentation skills, and must work well in a group environment
  • Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. overhead with assistance; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)

Preferred:

  • Previous experience with a LIMS
  • Previous experiences with a QMS
