Position Title: Processing Technician I / Processing Technician II
Play a critical role in helping patients gain access to the treatment they need. This position is responsible for specimens in our state of the art facility that have been collected by our clients who are managing clinical trials to secure the required approval for potentially life-saving patient treatments. Clinical trials depend on biological specimen samples being withdrawn and deposited on a continual basis.
Our Biorepository facility currently houses over 25 million specimens. When biospecimens are returned to our facility or requested for further testing, the Laboratory Technician has a critical role in processing biological samples in an accurate and timely manner. As a highly regulated industry, subject to frequent audits, professionals who are systematic, comfortable with repetitive tasks in a fast paced environment and detailed oriented are encouraged to consider this opportunity.
We hire Processing Technicians at varied levels throughout the year. You will be responsible for receiving, inventory and processing fresh patient specimen samples and nonclinical samples for Accucell line of cryopreserved cells.

What your day-to-day will look like:
Our Processing Technician I receive and inventory all incoming fresh biological samples into LIMS database, perform cell isolations and/or separate whole blood and body fluids into various components, perform cryopreservation of all isolated cells, prepare reagents used in lab, perform cell thawing and counting, create and perform first key of data collection sheets.
In addition to the above, the Processing Technician II perform plate based assays such kit based ELISAs for clinical patient specimen samples, QC analyses for controls and standards utilized in the plate based assays to ensure that results meet specifications, isolation and cryopreservation of intact RNA, miRNA and DNA from clinical patient specimen samples of all tissue and types, quantification and QC evaluation of nucleic acid samples including Picogreen assays and QC analyses (RNA/DNA integrity analysis, Real-Time PCR) to ensure that results meet specifications and perform equipment preventive maintenance.
Minimum Required: Associates degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences) or equivalent combination of education and experience for our Processing Technician I and Processing Technician II will have 2 years' relevant laboratory experience, in addition to completed degree.
- Possess basic laboratory and troubleshooting skills and be trained in aseptic technique
- Requires good attention to detail, excellent documentation skills and work well in a group environment
- Proficient using Microsoft office, specifically with Excel
- Overtime and non-standard hours may be necessary based on business needs
- Ability to lift and carry between 1-15 lbs.; frequently required to sit, grasp, and use right/left finger dexterity; May be exposed to a cold freezer environment (Freezer temperatures range between -20ºC -196ºC)
- Able to read, write, speak fluently and comprehend the English language
- Bachelor’s degree (Biology, Chemistry or Life Sciences)
- 1-2 years’ relevant laboratory experience
- Isolating PBMCs from whole blood or leucopheresis
- Previous experience with a LIMS
- Previous experiences with a QMS
